Longtime Laurel residents John and Lee Mewshaw have been kind enough to share many photos from their collection, having had the foresight to photograph buildings and details before the businesses disappeared. Among this collection are the fires that damaged Gavriles' and the B&O train station, the demolition of the Turf Club, the vacant Fyffe's, the final days of Cook's Laurel Hardware and Woolworth, and scenes from early 1990s Main Street Festivals, including the year that the Washington Football Team made a push to relocate to Laurel.
